The former Viljandi High School (Valuoja School) was built in 1928 planned by architects E. Wolffeldt and A. Nürnberg. However, their historical building was never fully realised. From the beginning on, the school was designed in dialogue with the surrounding vast green areas as well as Neoclassical Viljandi manor house, Neo-Gothic St. Paul’s church, and former Ugala Theatre thats current building is an example of Soviet modernism. Hence, the new extension building is perfectly placed in East-West orientation that offers picturesque views to the pond-side, keeps a discreet distance from the historic school building and ensures good natural light conditions.
